Engineered ZIP-screen solutions for oversized outdoor and commercial openings

Standard outdoor roller blinds are not designed for every large opening. When a project becomes exceptionally wide, unusually tall, highly exposed to wind or too large for a single conventional unit, the system must be selected according to its actual operating conditions.

Opening width, height and total area are only the starting points. Wind exposure, installation height, supporting structure, fabric weight, cassette capacity, operating frequency and transportation restrictions can all affect which ZIP-screen system is suitable.

Our oversized range includes solutions for:

•Standard extra-wide outdoor openings
•Long-span connectable screens
•Tall windows and commercial façades
•High-rise and wind-exposed installations
•Openings requiring heights of up to 12 metres
•Commercial projects requiring widths of up to 30 metres through engineered connected configurations

Maximum dimensions depend on the selected system and project conditions. Maximum width and maximum height cannot automatically be combined in one blind

When Is a Standard ZIP Screen No Longer Suitable?

A standard ZIP screen may be sufficient for a conventional window, balcony or pergola opening. However, simply increasing the width or height of a standard blind can introduce structural and operational problems

An engineered oversized system should be considered when one or more of the following conditions apply

The Opening Is Exceptionally Wide

As the blind becomes wider, the roller tube spans a greater distance between its supports.

This can increase the risk of:

•Roller-tube deflection
•Fabric sagging or horizontal waves
•Uneven fabric winding
•Increased load on the motor and end brackets
•Reduced stability across the full width
•Greater wind pressure on the extended fabric

For a normal large opening, an extra-wide ZIP-screen system may be sufficient. For extremely long commercial openings, a connectable system may be required
