CBD Fair Guangzhou 2026: Shading Systems for Larger, More Demanding Openings

    2026-07-14

NewHoo extra-wide windproof roller blind booth at CBD Fair Guangzhou 2026

From July 8 to 11, 2026, the 28th CBD Fair Guangzhou brought together building-material manufacturers, designers, contractors, distributors and project buyers at the Canton Fair Complex.

At Booth 18.2-B04, NewHoo presented a range of working shading and screening systems designed for residential, commercial and large-opening applications.

Instead of displaying isolated profile samples, the booth allowed visitors to see complete systems in operation—from extra-wide ZIP-guided roller blinds and double-layer outdoor shades to retractable awnings and screen door systems.

The exhibition also highlighted a clear change in market demand: customers are no longer selecting shading products based on appearance or basic sun protection alone. They increasingly expect stable operation, cleaner architectural integration, easier maintenance and configurations that match the actual dimensions and exposure conditions of each project.

Extra-Wide Windproof Roller Blinds Took Center Stage

One of the main attractions was the full-width windproof roller blind installation across the front of the booth.

The display included a 14-metre-wide single-layer installation and a 10-metre-wide double-layer configuration, demonstrating how guided fabric systems can be adapted to large façades and wide outdoor openings.

Unlike a free-hanging outdoor shade, a ZIP-guided system keeps both fabric edges engaged inside the side rails. This helps reduce side gaps, fabric movement and uncontrolled billowing when the blind is exposed to outdoor airflow.

However, specifying an extra-wide blind is not simply a matter of choosing the largest available width. The complete system must be evaluated according to:

    • Opening width and height
    • Total fabric area and weight
    • Roller-tube deflection
    • Side-rail and bracket anchoring
    • Installation substrate
    • Local wind exposure
    • Motor torque and operating frequency
    • Access for installation and future maintenance

These factors determine whether one continuous blind, a connected system or several coordinated sections provide the better solution.

Double-Layer Shades for Changing Light and Privacy Needs

The double-layer windproof roller shade was another major focus at the exhibition.

Rather than asking one fabric to perform every function, a double-layer system allows two fabrics to be selected for different conditions. A project may, for example, combine a solar-screen layer for daytime glare control with a more opaque layer for privacy or stronger light blocking.

This gives users greater flexibility throughout the day:

    • Lower the solar screen when visibility and ventilation are priorities
    • Use the more opaque layer when privacy or stronger shading is required
    • Retract both layers when an open view is preferred
    • Adjust each layer independently as sunlight and weather conditions change

The guided side-rail structure also helps keep the fabric more stable than an ordinary free-hanging shade. Depending on the fabric and system configuration, it can improve solar control, privacy, dust reduction and comfort around semi-open outdoor spaces.

It is important to note that a double-layer shade is still a retractable shading system, not a permanently sealed wall or roof. Fabric selection, guide-rail structure, drainage conditions and wind exposure must all be considered during specification.

Retractable Awnings for Patios and Storefronts

NewHoo also presented two retractable awning directions: full-cassette systems and reinforced folding-arm systems.

    Full-Cassette Retractable Awnings

A full-cassette awning stores the fabric, folding arms, motor and major moving components inside the cassette when retracted.

This enclosed structure helps reduce exposure to dust, sunlight and rain while the system is closed. It also produces a cleaner façade appearance because the fabric roll and operating components are not left exposed.

Full-cassette awnings are well suited to:

    • Residential patios
    • Villa terraces
    • Courtyards
    • Café and restaurant seating areas
    • Storefront entrances
    • Hospitality and leisure spaces

    Reinforced Folding-Arm Awnings

The reinforced folding-arm system focuses on stable extension, wide shade coverage and a relatively compact façade installation.

Thickened aluminium profiles, cast mounting components and reinforced arm structures help support the fabric as it projects away from the wall. Optional lighting can also extend the usability of the shaded area into the evening.

Retractable awnings are intended primarily for sun protection and may provide limited protection during light rain when the correct pitch and drainage conditions are provided. They should be retracted during strong wind, heavy rain or severe weather.

Three Retractable Screen Door Structures for Different Openings

The exhibition also included three retractable screen door structures: VR70, VR88 and VR100.

These systems are intended for doorways and indoor or semi-enclosed openings. They should be selected independently from heavy-duty outdoor windproof roller blinds.

VR70: Compact and Easy to Integrate

VR70 uses a compact structure designed for common residential door openings. Its simple profile design allows it to match modern, minimalist and wood-toned interiors without making the frame visually heavy.

The system is suitable for projects that prioritize:

    • Compact installation
    • Clean appearance
    • Convenient daily operation
    • Residential entrance and side-door applications

    VR88: Spring-Assisted Retraction

VR88 uses a retractable spring structure for smooth opening and automatic closing.

The guided movement helps the screen retract in a controlled manner, while the frame and sealing structure are designed to reduce visible gaps around the opening. It is suitable for frequently used entrances, balconies and sunroom access points.

VR100: Wire-Guided Support for Larger Openings

VR100 uses a reinforced wire-guided structure for wider door openings.

The wider bottom-track channel and supporting structure improve screen guidance during opening and closing. This makes the system suitable for projects that need insect protection and ventilation across a larger entrance.

The final choice should be based on opening width, height, frame condition, traffic frequency and the required opening direction. View the available retractable screen door systems.

What Visitors Were Really Asking About

The most valuable conversations at the show were not simply about colours or product appearance. Designers, distributors and project customers were mainly concerned with practical questions:

    • How wide can one blind be without excessive roller-tube deflection?
    • Should an opening use one blind or several connected sections?
    • How should the side rails be fixed to an uneven wall?
    • Which system is easier to transport, install and maintain?
    • Which fabric provides shade without completely blocking the outside view?
    • When is a double-layer system more practical than a single fabric?
    • Which operation method is suitable when no electrical supply is available?
    • How should an awning be matched to the wall condition and required projection?

These questions confirm that outdoor shading is increasingly being treated as a complete project system rather than a decorative accessory.

Product dimensions alone are not enough. A reliable specification must consider the opening, structure, fabric, operation method, installation surface, exposure conditions and long-term maintenance requirements together.

    Continuing Beyond the Exhibition

CBD Fair Guangzhou 2026 has concluded, but project consultations, product evaluations and distribution discussions remain open.

NewHoo will continue developing outdoor and indoor shading systems for balconies, patios, pergolas, façades, storefronts, hotels, restaurants and other residential or commercial spaces.

For a preliminary system recommendation, provide:

    • Opening width and height
    • Project location
    • Installation photos or drawings
    • Wall or frame condition
    • Indoor or outdoor application
    • Required shading and privacy level
