Level Push-Bar Movement, Controlled Position Holding and Quick Installation

The VR70 is a manually operated retractable insect screen designed for entrance doors, patio doors, side doors and other frequently used access points.

A toothed-belt synchronization mechanism connects the upper and lower ends of the push bar, helping it remain level throughout operation. The controlled FGS spring system allows the screen to stay at the selected position instead of snapping back immediately when released.

Available in single- and double-opening configurations, the VR70 supports finished sizes up to 2 × 3 m for a single opening and 4 × 3 m for a double opening.

Why Conventional Retractable Screens Become Difficult to Operate

On a tall retractable screen, the upper and lower ends of the push bar may not move at the same speed. The bar can gradually tilt, placing uneven tension on the mesh and making the screen harder to operate.

A conventional spring-return system may also retract too quickly when the user releases the handle. This can create sudden movement, additional impact on the components and an inconvenient experience at frequently used doorways.

The VR70 addresses these problems with a synchronized mechanical transmission system rather than relying only on an uncontrolled return spring or cord-based linkage.

How the VR70 Synchronized System Works

Toothed-Belt Synchronization Keeps the Push Bar Level

A toothed belt mechanically links the upper and lower movement of the push bar. When the user opens or closes the screen, both ends travel together at a consistent speed.

This coordinated movement helps prevent the push bar from tilting and maintains more even tension across the mesh, especially on tall door openings.

The result is a more controlled manual movement without requiring a motor or electrical connection.

Controlled FGS Spring System

The VR70 contains an FGS spring mechanism, but it does not operate like a conventional automatic recoil screen that immediately pulls the mesh back into the housing.

Instead, the system assists movement while allowing the user to leave the screen at the selected position. The doorway can therefore remain partially open when a full opening is not required.

This is useful for:

  • Controlling the available passage width
  • Adjusting ventilation
  • Managing frequent access through the doorway
  • Reducing sudden spring-return movement

Continuous T-Belt Mesh Retention

The fiberglass mesh is continuously retained along its travel path by a T-shaped belt. Unlike isolated fixing points, this structure keeps the mesh edge engaged with the guide over a larger contact area.

It helps maintain consistent fabric tension and reduces the chance of the mesh edge pulling away during normal operation or light everyday contact.

The T-belt system also helps reduce gaps along the side guides, improving the screen’s ability to block mosquitoes and other flying insects.

High-Transparency Fiberglass Mesh

The VR70 uses lightweight fiberglass mesh designed to preserve airflow, daylight and outward visibility while the screen is closed.

Because the mesh retracts into the side cassette when not required, it does not permanently block the doorway or create the appearance of a fixed screen panel.

Visibility through any screen material will vary according to indoor and outdoor lighting, viewing distance and mesh color.

A Lower Bottom Track for Finished Floors

The VR70 uses an approximately 30 mm-high non-recessed bottom track. It can normally be mounted onto a finished floor without cutting a channel into the flooring.

Compared with taller surface-mounted tracks, the low-profile structure creates less obstruction at the doorway and is easier to incorporate into renovation and replacement projects.

The bottom track is not completely flush with the floor. Site conditions, accessibility requirements and expected foot traffic should therefore be evaluated before installation.

Keeping the track clear of dust, stones and other debris will help preserve smooth screen movement.

Quick-Mount Housing Structure

The VR70 uses an aluminum cassette with die-cast aluminum-alloy end components. Its quick-mount structure is designed to simplify positioning and assembly during installation.

When the screen is opened, the fiberglass mesh retracts into the side cassette, which protects the rolled mesh and keeps the doorway visually uncluttered.

The cassette, side guides and bottom track should be installed on a flat, structurally suitable surface. Final fixing methods depend on the door frame, wall material and project conditions.

Single- and Double-Opening Configurations

Single Opening

The single-opening version retracts toward one side of the doorway. It is suitable for entrance doors, side doors, balcony doors and standard patio openings.

The maximum recommended finished-product width is 2,000 mm, with a maximum height of 3,000 mm.

The cassette position and opening direction should be confirmed according to the doorway layout, handle location and normal direction of travel.

Double Opening

The double-opening version uses two retractable screen panels for wider entrances, French doors and large patio openings.

The maximum recommended total finished width is 4,000 mm, with a maximum height of 3,000 mm.

Before production, the required center meeting arrangement, active opening side and daily passage width should be confirmed.

Where Can the VR70 Be Used?

The VR70 is intended for doorways where insect protection is required without permanently occupying the opening with a fixed or hinged screen.

Typical applications include:

  • Residential entrance doors
  • Patio and terrace doors
  • Balcony access doors
  • Side entrances
  • French doors
  • Wide double doors
  • Villas and apartments
  • Hotels and serviced residences
  • Offices and commercial entrances
  • Renovation and replacement projects

For exposed exterior locations, the local wind conditions, rainfall exposure and fixing surface should be assessed before the system is specified.

Information Required Before Ordering

Accurate measurements and a clear opening direction are essential for a custom retractable screen door.

Please provide:

  1. Finished opening width and height
  2. Doorway photos taken from inside and outside
  3. Single- or double-opening requirement
  4. Preferred cassette and opening direction
  5. Door handle and lock positions
  6. Floor and wall fixing conditions
  7. Required frame color
  8. Project quantity
  9. Installation country or region

Measure the opening at the top, middle and bottom. Use the measurements to identify any difference in width, height or wall alignment rather than assuming the opening is perfectly square.

Do not deduct installation clearance unless instructed by the manufacturer. The final manufacturing dimensions should be confirmed on the approved production drawing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the VR70 be installed on an existing finished floor?

In most cases, yes. The approximately 30 mm bottom track uses a non-recessed structure, so cutting a channel into the floor is normally unnecessary. The floor must still be sufficiently flat and suitable for secure fixing.

How do I choose the opening direction?

Consider the normal walking route, door-handle location, available fixing space and the side on which the cassette will cause the least obstruction. Send doorway photos with the measurements so the opening direction can be checked before production.

Can the mesh be replaced if it is damaged?

The available replacement method depends on the selected system configuration and the condition of the internal components. Confirm replacement mesh and spare-part availability when placing a project order.

Is the fiberglass mesh pet-proof?

Standard fiberglass mesh is intended for insect protection and normal daily use. It is not designed to resist repeated scratching, biting or heavy impact from pets. A reinforced mesh option should be specified for pet-related applications.

Can the screen be used on an uneven doorway?

Minor differences can sometimes be addressed during measurement and installation, but excessive wall or floor deviation may affect sealing, mesh tension and push-bar movement. Measure the opening in several positions and provide photos before production.

Does the screen completely disappear when opened?

The mesh retracts into the side cassette, leaving the main passage open. The cassette, guide profiles and bottom track remain installed around the doorway.
